services carefully crafted the Downtown Streetscape Improvements Project for the charming 1898 commercial center of City of Winters, California. Working closely with the City and the business community, the design uses clay brick pavers, street furnishings, historic street light standards, and general design approaches that enhance the High Victorian and Italianate architecture of Main Street. The design team arranged pedestrian improvements, bulb-outs, and low walls strategically to create outdoor dining for adjacent restaurants, calm traffic flows, and to fashion attractive public plazas and gathering places for the community. Where possible, local materials were used. As an example, Rick coordinated the development of the clay brick pavers with a regional manufacturer, which saved time and money and gave the final design a distinctive local flavor.
Rick’s role in the project ranged from concept, to plan, and through to administration – a good example of the advantage of Rick’s full array of services, making Rick a “one-stop-shop” for design, implementation and construction.
