This complex project was performed
adhering to a tight schedule and coordinating with multiple
agencies. Rick
Engineering Company's Transportation
Division prepared
plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) and project
reports/environmental documents (PR/ED) for a 2½-mile widening
project from four lanes to six lanes on SR 54/94. Work
included geometric design; right-of-way requirements mapping;
drainage; traffic signing, striping, signalization, and
lighting; and cost estimates.
Design was performed to Caltrans'
standards and required the preparation of Mandatory and
Advisory Design Exception Fact Sheets. The project necessitated
a HEC-2 analysis of an adjacent creek to determine 100-year
flow floodplain and floodway limits, and to facilitate
in the design of a reinforced box culvert crossing of State
Route 94. All plan preparation and design was performed
using our in-house CADD system.
