Rick Engineering Company's Transportation Division prepared final roadway and drainage plans, and estimates for this design/build project of over $600 million. The overall project consists of 15 kilometers (9.5 miles) of new Toll Road facility with Rick Engineering Company responsible for 5.6 kilometers (3.5 miles) of the southerly segment of this project. Included in this segment is a half-diamond interchange at Otay Mesa Road, an interchange at the Mainline Toll Plaza, an Operations Center, approximately 800 linear meters (2,600 feet) of Soil Nail Walls, two major extended detention/water quality basins, and a 1-kilometer (3,300-foot) long bridge spanning the Otay River. The design and drafting conformed to Caltrans standards and was performed utilizing MicroStation and InRoads.
