Neighborhood Traffic Calming Assessment
Hillcrest at Nohl Ranch Community



Rick Engineering Company prepared a neighborhood traffic calming program report for the privately gated residential neighborhood namely, Hillcrest at Nohl Ranch Community, in the City of Orange. The purpose of the report was to provide background information and documentation that will enable the board of directors of the concerned home-owners assocation to recommend a program of neighborhood traffic calming to the local Fire Department and City Traffic Engineering Department for adoption. The assessment outlined a proposed program that consists of introducing the following types of traffic calming measures:
Tasks included the collection and analysis of average daily traffic volumes and traffic speed on major study residential roadways, liaison with public agencies for adoption of the proposed traffic calming measures, and evaluation of applicable traffic calming devices in conformance with the guidelines setout in the following references:

A final report and a public presentation were prepared to summarize the findings of the assessment.
Rick Engineering Company also prepared a similar traffic survey and analysis for another privately gated residential neighborhood namely, Coto de Caza located in Orange County in 2006. The purpose of the study was to evaluate the appropriate posted speed limit based on the observed radar speed surveys data, and to recommend optimal types of traffic calming features within the study residential roadway network.
