and urban design, the Urban Design/Planning Division of
Rick Engineering Company is poised to
design distinctive places and resolve issues in the realm of
public policy.
Our vision
of Urban Design involves the spaces between buildings . . . the
spaces between that act as “civic glue.” Knowledge
and experience produce well-designed spaces with high-quality
materials at a humanized scale. Clearly defined order, function
and identity of new or redeveloped places are central concerns
of our team. Fluid integration of streets, corridors, paseos,
plazas, landscaping, and street furniture provides a platform
for social interaction and stimulates economic vitality.
Our vision
of Planning encompasses the realm of land use, development and
redevelopment, employed to serve the greater good. Though our
focus is local and regional in scale, we incorporate long-range
thinking and a big picture perspective. Guided by the founding
fathers of City Planning and inspired by current innovations,
we successfully integrate environmental, physical, social, economic,
historical, and circulation elements into coordinated development.
