THE SPECIALIZED COMPUTER SERVICES Division is the leading edge
of the graphic support and production system at Rick Engineering
Company. Established in 1984, the Division focused initially on
computer site design, site slope, and site visibility analysis.
Since that time, Division services have grown to include specialized
photo simulation and drive-through/fly-by 3-D video animation programs,
and ARC/INFO and ARC/VIEW Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
analysis that have been applied to over 300 project sites in San
Diego County.
The Specialized Computer Services Division provides cutting edge computer-based
visualization services:
ARC/INFO and ARC/VIEW GIS Relational Analysis,
Reports, Maps, and Exhibits
Compilation and Maintenance of GIS Data Bases
Import/Export of GIS Data to and from CAD Systems
Photo Simulations
Drive-through/Fly-by 3-D Video Animations
Site Renderings and Perspective Views
Custom Graphics, including Photo Enhancement, Manipulation,
and Translation
Multi-media Presentations
Large Color Format Plotting
Video Production, Editing, Duplication, and Narration Services
Scanning and Digitizing Services
The Specialized Computer Services Division is of particular value
to clients seeking innovative ways to interpret and present complex
engineering and architectural projects. The Division maintains
a staff
of graphic delineators who specialize in computer modeling and design engineering.
The Division uses state-of-the-art computer software including ARC/INFO GIS,
MicroStation and InRoads, Autodesk 3-D Studio Max, and several high-end video
and graphics programs.
The Divisions ability to perform
a variety of specialized computer services is evidenced by a
long history of successful
projects. A partial listing of projects includes:
To illustrate the location, existing
conditions, and proposed conditions and facilities of this 2,600-acre site, a
computer-generated video was developed. Highlights included a photo-realistic
3-D animated fly-by of the existing and proposed project and a detailed visual
analysis of a major road (Fanita Parkway) within the project area.
To help establish an environmental
boundary in the Future Urbanizing
Area, a GIS data base using ARC/INFO GIS was prepared. The GIS
data base modeled existing roads, utilities, floodplains, sensitive
vegetation, steep slopes, soil types, and earthquake fault zones.
The
Division developed several GIS programs to automate entry and subsequent
front-end computations of input data to be used by Rick Engineering
Companys in-house Water Resources Division for HEC-1 and
HEC-2 analysis for every river mapped by FEMA in the City of Vista.
Work also included generating GIS files of revised floodplains
for Agency use.
The Divisions ability to work with
a broad range of clients is evidenced by the hundreds of clients
for whom we have provided
specialized computer services. These include: City of Vista, City
of National City, County of San Diego, Shea Homes, and McMillin
Communities. |
